Summer Nights Double Page Scrapbook Layout

Summer Nights July 2020 Paper Pumpkin Scrapbook Layout

If you are like me sometimes you struggle with an idea or concept.  You may see a stamp set and spend days trying to come up with something to do with it or you may have a vision but then struggle putting your vision down on paper.

I have days like that.

Today was not one of those days.

Last week when I was doing the July 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit, Summer Nights, I knew I wanted to do a Scrapbooking Layout using this kit.

Summer is one of my favorite seasons - I don't like the humidity at all but I love that it is light out until 9pm and I love ice cream, fairs, fireworks, bonfires and fireflies.  I am missing many of these things this year but I still have many years (I'm catching up) of scrapbook pages to do...

This morning, I decided to start this layout.  I wasn't sure what I was doing exactly. I knew I wanted a layout to use up a lot of my extras from the kit.

I started with two 12x12 pieces of Blackberry Bliss and two 12x12 pieces of Whisper White cardstock.  I prefer doing double page layouts.  I don't know for sure but I suspect it has to do with the fact that when you have 2 pages looking at you they match (OCD here).

I cut the Whisper White down to 11x11 so I would have a border using the Blackberry Bliss.

I knew I wanted fireworks on the page.  I grabbed the Blackberry Bliss ink and then decided to also use the Coastal Cabana and the Calyso Coral.  I stamped them along the top.  Then, I embossed the fireworks using our Gold Embossing Powder.  It looked a little sparse so then I added Just Jade fireworks.  I wanted to add some light so I used Daffodil Delight and just went over all of the fireworks I had already stamped....

Then, I looked at one of the cards from the Add on kit (this kit comes with 24 cards and holy cow can you do a lot of cards with this add on and the kit!)...the card inspired the background coloring on the Whisper White.

I took Blackberry Bliss reinker and added it to a Stampin' Spritzer with rubbing alcohol (I love alcohol sprays and make my own).  I also added the Frost Whites shimmer paint to the Stampin' Spritzer.  I made sure it was mixed really well and sprayed it on the top of both pages.  I did the same exact thing with the bottom of the pages except I used Calypso Coral reinker.

It dries really (really) fast because of the alcohol.  I hung the banner of lights using the Gold Metallic Trim from the Forever Greenery Ribbon Combo Pack and hung the leftover lights on it.

The first page has the mason jar, the ferris wheel, the fireflies and the sentiment from the kit.

I cut out the words "Summer Nights" using the letter dies from the Playful Alphabet dies using the leftover card from the Add on kit that inspired the background coloring and I used Wink of Stella on the letter to give it some shimmer.  It's hard so see.

One of my favorite things about this kit are the stamps...and as you can see the stamps are AWESOME for doing a scrapbook layout or stamps...are these fireflies.  I love that the smallest stamp in the kit is actually the butt of the firefly so you can stamp it to look like it is lighting up!

The small mason jars in the above picture were stamped in Memento Black and then I colored them in using the Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends.

The photo mats are Blackberry Bliss and Calypso Coral.  I used Stampin' Seal and the Stampin' Mini Dimensionals from the kit.

Here is a link to my youtube video making the cards from the kit per the instructions...
