Oh, Happy Saturday!

Now that the excitement from On Stage has died down, it's time to focus on the holidays and what better way to do that than to work on this month's Paper Pumpkin kit, Winter Gifts.

Paper Pumpkin is Stampin' Up's monthly subscription kit. Each month a new stamp set is featured along with coordinating pieces to make the items in the kit.  The November kit is a beauty.  It features 4 different tag designs and enough product to make 24 gift tags total.

Everything we need to put together the gift tags - including the ink and the adhesive are included.  The instructions are also included in each kit.

The other nice thing about this month's kit is that it coordinates with the October 2019 kit, Winter Woods.  This kit was hugely popular.  Some month's we are fortunate enough to get refill kits to buy but the October kit was so popular that the refills are not available yet...crossing my fingers they will become available in January.

One of my favorite things to do with the Paper Pumpkin kit is to make alternative projects.  And, that is the nice thing about Paper Pumpkin...it's great for beginners or for those who just want to follow the instructions...maybe you don't have time to think outside the box.  Me...I love showing you and my customers what else you can do with Paper Pumpkin besides make the kit as is.

Here are some of the gift tags I put together doing the instructions as described:

And, here are two alternatives I've done.

The first card is made using the kit products along with a piece of Pool Party cardstock and a piece of Whisper White cardstock - everything else is from the November kit.  The card is perfect for someone who wants to be a little bit more adventurous but maybe doesn't have a whole supply of things in their stash.

This card...I went and combined the November kit with a couple pieces left over from the October 2019 kit - the birch trees  (which I stamped over with the Birch Tree stamp and the Silver Delicata ink from our Holiday catalog), the Cardinals and the wooden background (which is actually the inside of one of the envelopes from the October kit which I cut open and trimmed down).  I also used the October stamp set to create my own Designer Series Paper on the Pool Party cardstock.  The card itself is Poppy Parade cardstock.

This card is perfect for the avid stamper and would look wonderful in a frame as a gift for the holidays and it will certainly take center stage on the mantel.

Here is a video I made showing you how I did it.

If you would like to order any of the products you see here, you may go to my online store here

I would love for you to become a part of my Paper Pumpkin club.  I have a monthly club where I show my customers how to create alternatives.  And, if you are not local to me and would like to sign up for Paper Pumpkin, you may sign up here

If you sign up as my customer, I will send you an invite to my private group on Facebook, Papercrafts with Meg, where I do upload videos and monthly unboxing videos.  I also do the kit for you...in case you have questions and I do include helpful tips.

Oh, yes, I am obsessed

I am so excited for this weekend.  It is OnStage time again.  It seems like just yesterday I was posting about it back in April.

I was so happy to see one of my fellow demo's had organized the Scrapbooking Swap again and yes because I love scrapbooking I joined in.

I decided to do two double page layout swaps.  My first choice was to use the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper and my second was the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper.

And, since it is fall in New England I had to have the moose punch.

Here are my layouts.

The first layout using the Come Sail Away Suite and the Handlettered Prose Dies is a style of scrapbooking called Interactive Scrapbooking.

I used a Memories and More 6x8 Photo Pocket Page to add a flip page to the 2nd layout.  It lies on top of the 2nd page and there is a slit in the 12x12 traditional pocket page for the 6x8 photo pocket page.

This layout is designed using the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper and there is my moose.

This layout really speaks fall and New England to me.  I am fortunate that I have actually seen a live moose in the wild twice - both times on the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire.

I would love to teach you how to scrapbook.  Check out my calendar of events at Papercraftswithmeg.stampinup.net

Happy World Card Making Day

Merry Moose Bundle

Today, I decided I would showcase the Merry Moose bundle to show you all how easy it is to get started with stamping.  I made 4 cards in varying difficulty from beginner all the way up to the avid crafter.

You can purchase this bundle here in my Stampin' Up store

The first card I made was made for the beginner stamper. The 2 evergreen stamps were stamped on Whisper White Cardstock in Mint Macaron and then I stamped the star on a few of the trees using So Saffron that was it.  I didn't even use the moose punch. Many beginners are leary of using additional products. Don't be.  The first card would be perfect as a note card or a thank you card and it would be easy to make multiples of them at once.  It would be perfect in a set of 10 for a craft fair! Add your envelopes, stamp a tree on the back of the envelopes, tie with a ribbon and voila!  Instant success!

The 2nd card was done the same way as the first except this time I punched out the moose. I stamped him in Soft Suede and Crumb Cake and used dimensionals.

Here are the first 2 cards.

The next 2 cards had more steps and more product in them.  These were geared toward the more experienced crafter and the avid crafter.

For both these cards, I used a Mint Macaron mat.  The 3rd card has a blank mat; on the last card, I used the Birch background stamp (seriously, my favorite) and stamped it in Silvery Shimmer Delicata (another obsession) onto the Mint Macaron cardstock.  The 3rd moose is simply punched and I used the soft suede and crumb cake again. The 4th moose...well, he looked a little chilly so I gave him a Merry Merlot hat and scarf - both fussy cut.

I used the Merriest of Holidays stamp as a sentiment on both cards. The classic label punch on the 3rd and the Stitched Nested Label Dies on the 4th.  On the 4th card, I used the crystal effects and the ice stampin' glitter for some bling and I colored in the raccoon using the Stampin' Blends.

It's time for Fall

School has started and for many of us (me included), that means summer is almost over and we are hanging onto every little bit of summer I can.  We took some time off for vacation and I am back in the saddle now that things are hopping with Stampin' Up.

The August 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit, The Gift of Fall, came while we were away and I really didn't have a chance to play with it before our Paper Pumpkin club the other night.  This weekend, though, I have been having some fun with the kit.

The ideas for these cards came up last night when I was talking to a friend and Stampin' Up demonstrator (who is also one of my downlines) about the Pigment Sprinkles.  The Pigment Sprinkles are new as of this past June and she wanted to know what to do with them and asked me to do a video. So, I started playing around wondering what to do.  You will find the pigment sprinkles here

Pigment Sprinkles from Stampin' Up

At first, I was going to use the Bermuda Bay but then I made a mess (by accident) and mixed up the Daffodil Delight and the Melon Mambo with the Mango Melody and I got a gorgeous orange which got me thinking about fall.

I knew I had some stuff leftover from the August 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit because I hadn't used up all of the embellishments that went with it and I also knew I had some scraps left from 2 of the cards with the add on kit this month so I decided to play around and see what I could come up with.

Here are the finished products using the Pigment Sprinkles and the August 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit.

Pigment Sprinkles and the August 2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit, The Gift of Fall.

Now, those of you who know me know that I used to be a rebel in my younger days and some days I still don't like to follow directions...and that is so true of Paper Pumpkin.  I always do alternative projects because I think the Paper Pumpkin kits are great - not just for beginners but they are so versatile and if you are an avid crafter you can definitely use them for a quick project or you can use them to help you find inspiration and then step out of the box.

This month's kit was 6 gift bags...here is a sample of what a few of my bags looked like.

Augst 2019 The Gift of Fall

The bags are wicked cute and no I did not follow the instructions for the tags...I think these will be great at Thanksgiving for nameplates at the table (I may get a little Martha Stewarty at times).

I did buy the add on kit that Stampin' Up offered because, honestly, I wasn't sure what the bag would look like. I did buy the add on kits as soon as they went on sale just in case they sold out (as of this writing, they are still available here.  The kit comes with 24 cards and is only $10. You do need to be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber to purchase...as if you didn't need another reason to join Paper Pumpkin.

Now, as I said, I always do alternatives...here are some of my alternatives from August.  You do not need to have the experience to do these cards.  Everything you need comes in the kit (except the add on of course).

August 2019 Paper Pumpkin alternatives

Some of them have more embellishments than others and some take more steps than others but I promise you  - you can do this!

The September 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit is Halloween.  If you would like to sign up to see what Paper Pumpkin is all about, you may go here and sign up.  You have the option of doing month to month or prepaying for 3, 6 or 12 months.

Now, for the last card I made today. I did a video this morning (if you follow me on Facebook at Bayside Paper Crafters you can find it) and in the video I demonstrated how to use the Pigment Sprinkles but I did have a card front left over from my demonstration.  I made it into a card using the Gather Together bundle which is in the new holiday catalog that goes live on September 4th.  I love this bundle.  I also used a punch that will also be available and I used up the scraps from the Paper Pumpkin add on kit for the pumpkins and the bigger leaves.

Gather Together

If you do not have a Stampin' Up demonstrator and are interested in any of these products, I would love to show you how to use them.  You can go to my Stampin' Up site here.  I am also on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest at Bayside Paper Crafters.

I hope you have enjoyed today's blog.

Happy Stamping!

Whew

What a month!  July 2019 was our best month yet.  I celebrated my one year Stampin' Up Anniversary and we added new team members to our team.  Bayside Paper Crafters is growing!

Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way!

Come Sail Away Travel Journal

I recently took a class at my local Scrapbook store and learned how to make a travel journal. It is super cute and wicked easy and now I can't stop making them!  This measures approx 7.25" tall and 5 5/8" wide.  You don't need to use it as a travel journal, either. It would work great as a planner!

My husband, daughter and I are going to be going on a cruise for our summer vacation and I thought that using the Come Sail Away suite to make a travel journal would be a good idea for me to jot down things the day we do them - no more guessing 6 months from now what we did and when.  Plus, there is an inside pocket for me to put maps, ferry tickets, and other small trinkets.

Here is the finished project:

For this journal, I used the Come Sail Away Memories & More cards as well as the Designer Series Paper from the Come Sail Away suite.  The sheets inside are Night of Navy, Whisper White and Balmy Blue cardstock from Stampin' Up.  The directions I had called for 20 pages of regular copy paper for the insert.  Because I used cardstock, 20 pages would have been too much.  I used 10 pages total.  All of the edges are rounded.  The cardstock is perfect for me as I will use this as a scrapbook.

I did laminate the journal - you want the cover and the inside folders sturdy.  But, because it is laminated I was not able to add any die cuts.  I would not add any more layers to this as the laminator may not work if you add more layers.

I still think it's useful and very cute.  It will definitely fit the mood on our ship!

If you would like to order any of these products, please click here to go to my Stampin' Up store.

I did get the measurements for this from Papercraft Clubhouse in Westbrook, Connecticut.  Tracie and her crew gave credit to Angela Beavers at Creative Chaos and "Kim Kan't Stop Krafting" for Country Craft Creations.

Have a great week, everyone and Happy Crafting!

Paper Pumpkin Weekend

I love getting my Paper Pumpkin kit in the mail.  It's a Christmas present every month.  I know that my kit arrives around the 18th of the month and the weekend following the arrival of the kit I hold a Paper Pumpkin Club event at my home.  All of my customers are invited...and it is nice to do a low stress activity with my friends.  We love the Paper Pumpkin kits because they are great for all levels.  You don't need any experience.

Every kit comes with everything you need. When you first sign up, your kit will include your stamp block.  Every month includes the stamp, ink, adhesives and all of the bits and pieces to put your kit together.

Here is a video I did on the unboxing of my Paper Pumpkin kit. It's my first video on you tube.  I am super excited.

Here are the final 3 cards I made. I enjoy stepping out of the box and doing alternatives to the kit. I like showing you how versatile the Paper Pumpkin kit can be.

All of these cards are alternatives to the July kit.

I loved this kit. Stampin' Up out-does themselves month to month and just when I think the kits can't get any better, they throw me a curve ball.

And, until July 31, for every $50 usd you spend before July 31 (before shipping and tax) will earn you a $5 usd Bonus Days coupon code that can be used August 1–31.

I'm already looking forward to next months kit.  If you would like to join me in the Paper Pumpkin Club you may join me at this link.

Here is a preview of the August 2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit

I don't like wishing summer away but this give me something to look forward to.

Happy Crafting everyone!

Stampin' Blends

Here is a card I made. I colored the flowers in with the Stampin' Blends. The stamp is from the Bloom & Grow stamp set.

I absolutely love our Stampin' Blends.

What are they?

Stampin' Blends are Stampin' Up's own alcohol markers.

Here's another card.
Also done with the Bloom & Grow stamp set, but, I also used the dies that are a part of the bundle.

I love the Blackberry Bliss

With the Stampin’ Blends, you can create a high quality, realistic looking color-blending experience which will give you a rich, saturated color.  These are dual-tip markers, which match our exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors will make it easy for you to become a creative genius.
You can blend light and dark shades of the same color or you can blend colors with similar hues. Each individual marker includes both a thin tip and a brush end.
Each marker has a fine tip for smaller images and a brush tip for larger areas. There are little icons showing the different types  of tips on the marker barrel.  Also, the thicker line near the marker caps indicates the brush tip.
We do have a color lifter...what is this you ask?
The color lifter has no color in it.  You can use it to erase, highlight, blend and add texture.  If you go over the lines, you can erase the color by gently going over the mistake and move the color back inside the lines.  You may need to go over it a few times.  You can also use the color lifter to highlight and area by removing color you’ve blended, to soften up or blend any harsh lines between the colors.
Tips:.
The perfect ink for you to use with these alcohol blending markers is the Memento Black Ink to stamp your image.  This will prevent your image from bleeding.
You want to make sure that your ink is completely dry.
Most colors (except for Ivory and Bronze) come in a light and a dark shade.  Use the dark shade to add depth and shadows.
You can start with either the dark or the light - it's up to you. You will end up in essentially the same spot.
You will want to store your Stampin' Blends horizontally to prevent one end from drying out.  The perfect storage for our blends is the Stampin' Up blend storage

You may buy the blend storage here: Stampin' Up Blend Storage
You will also want to protect your work station...the ink will bleed through your cardstock. The perfect solution for this is to use our grid paper under your cardstock!
You can buy the stampin' blends as well as the Bloom & Grow bundle here: Shop with Meg

Don't forget - this is the perfect time to join Stampin' Up.
From now until August 31, new demonstrators will receive an additional $30 usd to put toward bonus products in their Starter Kit. THEN, you will receive a $10 usd coupon code the following month.
You may join my team at the above link or click here: Join Bayside Paper Crafters

Thanks for checking my page out and happy papercrafting!

Delightful Tags for Cruising Ducks

Boy, did I have fun today!  There is nothing I like more than scrapbooking and papercrafting than planning our annual vacation. For the past few years, we have been fortunate enough to have been able to take a cruise on the Celebrity Summit to Bermuda.

Bermuda is beautiful. Its' people are friendly and welcoming. The island is clean...and the water and the sand are inspiring.

I usually start planning our vacation the year before and this year's cruise to Bermuda is no exception. We book in the ship so we can take advantage of any specials they are having.  PLUS, it gives me something to look forward to. I dislike the night we have to pack up our luggage and when I see those dreaded disembarkation tags, I cry (no joke).

I found this neat little group on Facebook called Celebrity Cruising Ducks.  It's a group who hides rubber ducks on the ships. When you find a duck, you take a pic of the duck and post it to the Facebook group.  You can either hide it again for someone else to find or take the duck home with you.

So I got these cute little Flamingo ducks. There were so many options to choose from on Amazon. My husband would have liked the super heroes (he loves Batman) but I wanted something a little bit more festive for the vacation. So, I chose the flamingoes.

I saw a post on Facebook from Lisa Sornson, another Stampin' Up Demonstrator, who made some tags with the June 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit.  Since I had almost a whole other kit I hadn't used (and since I needed tags to go with my ducks) I decided to make some tags for my Cruising Ducks.

Here is my before picture (granted, nothing much to look at)

I took the mini cards from the Paper Pumpkin kit and decided which ones I would use for the tags.  I decided to use the Delightful Tag Topper because I love the intricacy of the topper...of course, it was the first time I had used my laminator and did not realize that the laminator would have an issue with all of the bends in the tag...they still came out good, though (you can see for yourself in a bit).

Once I figured out which cards I was going to use, I took the dies from the Under the Sea Dies and Framelits and used some of the coral dies with Old Olive, Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride cardstock. Then, I used some Wink of Stella on the die cut pieces. I wanted them to match the starfish and the sand dollars from the Paper Pumpkin kit.

I also used my sponge dauber to color the vellum pieces of coral.  I used the round piece of vellum as a stencil and used my sponge dauber on the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Sea of Textures stamp set and I cut this out with the Tailored Tag.

Once I had all of the pieces divided, I started putting the tags together. It was completely random (and a lot of fun).  I knew what I wanted to accomplish...all inspired by Bermuda (if you follow my blog, I am sure you are starting to see a pattern).

Here's the first one, now to thread them and tie them to the ducks.

2 ducks done....

I like them ALOT.

I hope you like them...and I hope that by following me I inspire you and perhaps learn something new, as well.

It's almost July and I'm still playing with the May Paper Pumpkin kit.  Here's an alternative I did as part of an online convention on Facebook this weekend.

And, speaking of weekend, what a busy weekend it was!  Paper Pumpkin Club yesterday, convention all weekend and today, a Magnolia Lane Scrapbook Class for my new Scrapbook Club!

I am super excited for the Scrapbook Club.  I have so many (um, 12) years to scrapbook for my daughter and my hubby...this scrapbook club couldn't come at a better time!

Here is the layout we did this month.

Next month our Scrapbook Club is getting together on Saturday, July 27th.  We will be doing a layout using the Come Sail Away suite.  Details coming soon!

Tuesday, June 4, 2019

Hello, my friends!

Today is the day!  June 4th. And, that means a brand new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  Do I hear a cheer?  Oh, wait!  That was me.

Here is the link for the new catalog.  I am so excited!

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I've actually been playing with quite a few of the new products as I attended On Stage (Stampin' Up!'s convention) in Atlantic City this past April.   Attending On Stage gives you the opportunity to prepurchase some selected items from the upcoming catalog (and you get a copy of the new catalog, too!)  On Stage was only one of the things I've been doing since my last post (which was too long ago!).

As part of On Stage, I joined a Scrapbooking Swap (I told you that you can Scrapbook with Stampin' Up!).

I saw a sign up on Facebook looking for attendees to join the swap and I signed up. I picked my favorite Designer Series Paper from the 2018-2019 Catalog (Tranquil Textures).  It took me about 2 weeks to get a layout I liked (these layouts had to be WOW!).  I hoarded the Designers Series Paper as well as the Tranquil Texture Sprinkles.  I stocked up on Tranquil Tide Cardstock (oh, how I will miss this!) as well as the Fresh Fig.  Then, I went to town.  I drew upon my daughter as my inspiration for this layout.  I made 9 of these - each one made with different Designer Series Paper.

Here are some pictures of what I created:

I used to think I would miss this Designer Series Paper, but, there are new designs in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog that I love just as much.

I've also been busy making some custom designed cards and gifts for friends and family.  Here are some of the other things I've made (okay, I made this for me):

Scrapbook Album using the Everything is Rosy Medley...so pretty. Everything in this album is Stampin' Up!  Even the chipboard to make the album!

So much interactivity!
Lots of spots for photos, mememtos and journaling!

Stay tuned for a tutorial on this album that you can purchase (and that is easily customed to any Designer Series Paper.  In the interest of full disclosure, I did get the instructions for the binding from Ginger at My Sister's Scrapper (she has a patent on the binding).

Thanks for reading and hope to see you soon at one of my classes.  My next event is Saturday, June 15th at 10:00. It is a Stampin' Up Catalog Launch and Bingo Stamptacular!  Cost is $25.00.  You may send me an email at BaysidePapercrafters@gmail.com.

Can you do scrapbooking with Stampin’ Up?

I hear this question from so many people.  I know that many demonstrators focus on cards.  But, for me, my answer is YES!  You can.

I was visiting with a friend the other day and we were talking about Stampin’ Up and scrapbooking and the question came up.   I decided to challenge myself to do a not-so-simple scrapbook layout with the Tranquil Textures product suite using the Sea of Textures stamps and dies.  All of these items are page 155 in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.

I had done a card using this suite a couple of weeks ago and I knew that the scrapbook layout, just like the card, would be inspired by one of my favorite places in the world, Bermuda.

My daughter and husband think I’m obsessed with the island; maybe I am.  Not that I’m keeping track but the current countdown to our next vacation to the “Rock” is 217 days.

Everything in this two-page layout is from Stampin’ Up with the exception of the stickers (I cannot remember where I got them) and the Bermuda die cut which I bought from my favorite local paper crafting store, Papercraft Clubhouse, in Westbrook, Connecticut.  I don’t remember the name of the company who did the die cut.

In my (sometimes not so humble) opinion there are some things I can never get enough of and some of those things are pink sand, crystal clear blue water and getting away from reality.  Bermuda fits all of these for me (as I sit here and type on a Sunday night knowing work awaits tomorrow).

I used a fuse tool (also not Stampin’ Up) to do the bottom border to give the illusion of pink sand and I used the tranquil texture sprinkles to make it look like rocks.  All the pictures were taken last August when we went to Tobacco Bay for the day to some snorkeling and to walk around St. George’s while we were waiting for the ferry to bring us back to the Dockyard.

I may have overdone it a bit on the octopus and the fishnet.  They don’t allow fishnets in the waters off Bermuda and I’ve never seen an octopus.  But, you get the idea.

They’re talking (maybe) a snow storm next weekend and it’s a cold night tonight.  This layout and the pictures bring me back to a warm, fun, wicked awesome day I will never forget.

Happy Stamping (and scrapbooking, too!)

Megan

p.s Go Pats!!

Friday Night Paper Pumpkin

I would like to thank everyone for coming out Friday night to our Paper Pumpkin event.  We will be having a monthly club meeting so we can all work on our Paper Pumpkin kits together.

If you are wondering what Paper Pumpkin is…

Paper Pumpkin is a monthly subscription available by the month, or in 3-month, 6-month or 12-month prepaid membership.  Every month, Stampin’ Up sends you a box and the contents are a surprise to all of us.  And, who doesn't love surprises?

Each monthly kit is different and unique but usually geared toward an upcoming event.  I have not received my January kit, yet, but it has a Valentine’s theme.  The box includes everything inside you need to make the kit.  The kits include instructions, stamps, color coordinating ink, adhesives, embellishments, and all the paper.  Your first kit will include a clear block for the stamps.  Everything is precut and pre-scored for you.  It is that easy!  Everyone who came on Friday had a great time – and yes, some had had no papercrafting experience.

These are the cards we made on Friday night using the Paper Pumpkin kit from August 2018.

If you would like to see what it is about, send me an email at BaysidePaperCrafters@gmail.com or click on the link, here.  If you’d like to get a group together, we can have a Paper Pumpkin party at your house!  If you and your friends like it we can have a monthly club party, too.

It is a fun night and we would love to see you!

You do need to be a member of Paper Pumpkin by February 10th to get February’s kit.  The purchase of a 3-month paid membership or higher also qualifies you for Sale-a-Bration rewards.  These items are only available for a limited time.  Check these beauties out!

Happy Stamping everyone!

Megan
